Why Canada?

Chatsworth Pavilion Residential Setting Why Choosing Canada Residential Treatment Program?

With so many fine facilities/treatment centers in the United States, why in the world would someone go to Canada for Treatment?

The benefits of attending Chatsworth are many:

1- The uniqueness and exclusivity of our program.

The “Closed Group” treatment model at Chatsworth is just simply not available anywhere else. This model, plus small group size, at most 6 participants, and never more than 3 clients per counselor, are the ingredients that make Chatsworth unique. Our primary objective is superior quality of program and care received. (see: About Us/Uniqueness)

2- Lower cost.

Clients from the US or Europe often benefit from the exchange rate. Furthermore, operating costs in Canada are lower than in the US and those savings are passed on to you. It is well known that Canada's health care system and prescription drugs are much less expensive and so is the program at Chatsworth Pavilion.

At $28,000 Canadian Dollars, we are 35% to 60% less expensive than treatment centers in the U.S. claiming a similar level of individualized care in a group setting.

At $28,000 Canadian Dollars, our program offers a greater value than many very well known U.S. facilities such as the California based program which posts on its website the fees for their 30 day program (as of Sept. 2009) at $26,000 US Dollars, with units of 24+ clients and case loads of 8 to 12 clients per counselor. With so many U.S. Programs in the $40,000 to $60,000 range, Chatsworth offers even greater savings.

Also, made possible by, and dependent upon, the generous offerings of our alumni, partial-scholarships may be available. Please call to inquire if you qualify for partial financial assistance.

3- Shorter length of program.

At Chatsworth we understand that for many the full cost of treatment must include earnings lost while away from work. For many professionals the income lost over a week or month can be substantial. Our 22 day program can help avoid this, often overlooked, additional cost of residential treatment, by combining our shorter length of stay with a robust longer outpatient counseling program back home, a long lasting recovery successful recovery can be achieved a lower overall cost.

The “Closed Group” setting offers the bonus benefit of a shorter length program. Clients at Chatsworth are not held back by the almost daily arrival and/or departure of a group member. At Chatsworth you are not held back by having to integrate every new arrival and re-introduce yourself over and over again.

Clients at Chatsworth benefit from the continued cohesiveness of a group that gets to know each other and then get to work on their issues with the same group throughout their stay. This allows us to achieve more in less time. The shorter length benefits everyone for whom time away from work or family is a precious commodity.

Concerns, that going away for 28 or 30 days could raise eyebrows at work, are well founded. After the popular movie about treatment entitled “28 Days” with Sandra Bullock was released in 2000, a 28-day+ absence became synonymous with having been in treatment. Chatsworth’s 22-day program in Canada offers the possibility of coming back with souvenirs from an out of country 3 week stay, therefore helping the client protect their confidentiality without raising an eyebrow.

When a client is assessed to need more time in a recovery environment, the short 22-day Chatsworth program can be complemented by one of several great continued-care programs with whom we coordinate extended care as necessary, often at a discounted rate as well.

4- Confidentiality

At Chatsworth Pavilion protecting confidentiality is made easier by the simple fact that Chatsworth operates in a Canadian jurisdiction. The confidentiality laws in Canada are much more restrictive than those in the U.S. and therefore better protect case files and how content can be shared and/or released. By being in Canada, we need not acquiesce to a foreign court order demanding release of information, nor does your stay here become part of an insurance company database (see: Confidentiality).

5- Psychological Distance

Although an easy, non-stop from many, and one-stop flight from most American cities, Canada offers physical and psychological distance, running interference with easy access to using and enabling peers, stressors and triggers for use represented by familiar using places. Montreal is a beautiful, European-type city offering a complete change in scenery and environment. The need and desire to change are emotionally supported by being in a new space doing things a little differently and realizing that life can change.

When a client is assessed to need more time in a recovery environment, the short 22-day Chatsworth program can be complemented by one of several great continued-care programs with whom we coordinate extended care as necessary.
