About the “Closed Group” Program
Studies have shown “Therapeutic-Alliance” to be the most important component in any treatment program. Beyond the actual therapeutic modalities utilized in whatever program you are evaluating, the “bond between client and counselor” as well as the “bond between clients in a therapeutic group” are the two single most important components, contributing to long lasting successful treatment outcomes.
The “Closed Group” residential setting not only allows for greater therapeutic alliance, it also nurtures it. Our therapeutic alliance with our clients is also greatly enhanced by the fact that we accept a maximum of only 12 clients per “Closed Group” session and we maintain a ratio of maximum 3 clients per counselor.
Chatsworth’s “Closed Group” residential treatment model allows us to deliver a higher level of treatment effectiveness with a “true difference” with the most individualized care within a group setting.
Our program is by design much shorter than the traditional 28 day programs. The “Closed Group” allows for a higher level of synergy and a more efficacious use of time. Uninterrupted by coming and going of clients as in a typical revolving door program, the group can progress as a unit and more work can be accomplished in a shorter time frame.
We appreciate that the best treatment outcomes are witnessed when there has been a successful combination of psychotherapy, 12 Step support group attendance and structured aftercare. We give special attention to aftercare. Appointments are scheduled with the referring professionals for each client before they leave Chatsworth, along with a written plan for active participation in 12-Step fellowships.
A “Pre-Program Week” has been developed to allow clients to come in early, before the actual “Closed Group” program begins. This phase is for those clients coming in as result of an intervention or simply because it is assessed that a stabilization period would greatly enhance their “Closed Group” program experience. Clients can be admitted at anytime during this “Pre-Program Week”
With a maximum group size of 6 clients, Chatstworth Pavilion provides exceptional individualized care within a residential setting. Chatsworth presents a spiritually based program that integrates the 12 Steps as a Life Management System.
